keep your distance from other people in public

If you have been told to self-isolate you must do so immediately.

keep a track of where you’ve been and who you’ve been in contact with (include names, dates and contact details)

We are now into our second week in level 1 and we are starting adjust to the new 'normal'.
We just wanted to make you all aware the number of hygiene and contact tracing measures that we have implemented to ensure the safety of ourselves and our customers.
These include:

Washing hands frequently (thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds) and drying them completely.
Use hand sanitiser after touching surfaces or items touched by members of the public.
Coughing or sneezing into elbow.
Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
Maintain a comprehensive contact register.
If you are experiencing any symptoms of the Coronavirus, seek medical care at the earliest opportunity, do not attend work.

Our office is now open to the public and we are operating under our normal hours of 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. Our emergency callouts are also available 24/7.

]]><![CDATA[Milk Cooling Regulations for 2018]]>Wed, 24 May 2017 03:41:15 GMThttp://www.rcorfieldelectrical.co.nz/news/milk-cooling-regulations-for-2018The Ministry for Primary Industries New Zealand Code of Practice for the design and operation of Farm Dairies has new milk cooling standards that come into effect in 2018.

The following changes will be introduced progressively from 1 August 2016 through to 1 January 2018:
•Milk must be cooled to 10°C or below within 4 hours of the commencement of milking.
• Milk must be cooled to 6°C or below within 6 hours of the commencement of milking and within 2 hours of the completion of milking.
•Milk must be held at or below 6°C until collection or the next milking
•The milk must not exceed 10°C during subsequent milking’s (Dairy NZ, 2017).

Milk cooling affects milk quality. The quicker the milk is cooled after milking, the better the quality when it is collected from the farm.

The R Corfield Refrigeration & Electrical Team]]><![CDATA[As the nights are getting colder...]]>Sun, 07 May 2017 20:28:02 GMThttp://www.rcorfieldelectrical.co.nz/news/as-the-nights-are-getting-colderAs the nights are getting colder and you start to feel the chill, make sure you take the time to check that the electric blanket is working correctly before you put it on the bed; as it can pose a threat if it is faulty.

Before use- Check for damage or wear and check again each time you change the sheets. Inspect the cord, control switch and plug for any damage and look for any kinks, worn or exposed wires, scorch marks, or breaks in the heating element.

How to check- Turn the blanket on for 15 minutes at the highest setting (don’t leave the room) and then turn it off. Run your hand over the blanket and feel for hot spots. A hot spot means the heating coil has been kinked or damaged. This could lead to fire or electric shock. Take it to a licenced electrical worker, like us, for repair or replace it with a new one.

SAFETY
Use an electric blanket only to warm the bed. Switch if off before you get in, so as to avoid overheating. Overheating can be life threatening, especially for the very young, ill, or elderly.

When fitting the blanket, ensure it is flat on the bed as creasing can damage the heating elements. Secure the blanket firmly using the attached ties. Pins or sharp objects should not be used. Keep the cord and control switch clear of the bed so they don’t get damaged.
Putting clothes or other things on the bed while an electric blanket is switched on could cause the blanket to overheat and may start a fire. Never leave an electric blanket unattended for long periods of time when it is switched on.

If in doubt, get out!

When you need to get out:
Civil Defence recommends you act quickly if you see rising water. Before the storm, you should find out where the closest high ground is and how to get there. If your home or business is at risk from flooding, it may pay to move somewhere on higher ground as the water rises.
If you have a disability or need support, make contact with your support network. Where possible, move pets inside or to a safe place.
Food and water:
On their hazard management page, Civil Defence recommends you collect enough food and water for at least seven days in the face of disaster. This includes dried or canned food (remember to have a working can opener!) and bottled drinking water. Civil Defence recommends three litres per person per day.
If power and water supplies are cut off, it's important to have equipment you might need to prepare food, such as a portable gas stove, extra water, matches or lighter.
In case of flooding, bugs from the ground surface can contaminate foods. Civil Defence recommends you wash cooking utensils in hot soapy water if they get covered by floodwater.
If food items are exposed to floodwater, destroy all unpackaged and non-waterproof covered ones.
Civil Defence recommends: "IF IN DOUBT, THROW IT OUT!"
They also advise you know where and how to switch off your power, water and/or gas.
Travel:
If you are planning to travel for the Easter holidays, they recommend you consider delaying your travel for a few days as the weather should improve from Saturday onwards. Keep up to date with the latest road and weather information on the NZTA website.
Drive carefully if you have to travel and expect delays!
